Guide to Grub Guardian Ep. 6 Tomb of Storms

Hey everyone! Today is the day we take on the Tomb of Storms in our expedition to conquer grub guardian :)

We are slowly making progress and are beginning to reach the ending levels of Krokotopia. Once we do manage to get into the higher levels, we will be getting better and better rewards.

Anyway, onto the strategy. This episode wouldn't have been possible without the ice towers, the were and invaluable help and allowed the myth/star towers to put out big damage and allowed the fire towers to keep everything burning longer. The fire towers were used to get damage onto the big enemies and and to take out the masses of smaller enemies. Finally, the star tower was used to take out a majority of the big enemies on the final wave.

Combining them all together the Tomb of Storms was beaten.

Thanks so much for reading and hopefully I helped you out!

Until next time!

Guide to Grub Guardin Ep. 5 The Oasis

Hey everyone! Today I'm bringing you the 5th episode of my Guide to Grub Guardian series. In this episode, we've moved on from Wizard City and are entering Krokotopia. The first Krokotopian map that we are going to be covering is the Oasis.

The main strategy in this episode was once again focused around myth and ice tower which are both incredibly useful for many stages. However, this time around, there was no optimal position for my 4x4 pet to be placed so I decided on putting him in the most high traffic area which was the right hand side.

I also decided on spreading the ice towers out to get the maximum slow time on the enemies. The myth towers were slightly spread and had overlapping ranges to give as much map coverage as possible.

Hopefully you enjoyed and I helped you out on your Grub Guardian journey.

Thanks

Guide to Grub Guardian Ep. 4 Colossus Boulevard

Hello everyone! Today I'm back with the 4th instalment to my Guide to Grub Guardian. This time, we will be taking on the final level in Wizard City, Colossus Boulevard. As we progress further into the levels, so will the difficulty increase.

The strategy this time was very much focused around the supporting ice and life towers which were both very necessary. Without ice, it is likely that some of the ghouls might have got through due to their speed and without life, there is no way that the myth and fire towers could have given enough damage to defeat the level.

Aside from the ice and life towers, only the Epic Fire Pet and a few myth towers were used as the source of damage. They may not seem like much but with the fire taking out the larger groups of weaker enemies and the myth focusing more on the larger targets, the strategy was effective.

Hopefully you enjoyed and I will see you next time.

Guide to Grub Guardian Ep. 3 Triton Avenue

Back again with yet another instalment of my guide to grub guardian, this time moving on to Triton Avenue.

The main strategy in this episode was focused around the star and ice towers. Having the ice towers at the start is an incredible bonus for this map, giving the star tower enough time to take out the larger groups of Gobblers and Cyclops.

The star towers really shine on this map and I'm very glad that I had them, the storm is also put in near the start to help the fire pet take out the faster, weaker, enemies.

Hopefully you enjoyed and if you're wondering when another non grub post is coming out, it will be out soon.

Thanks!

Guide to Grub Guardian Ep. 2 Firecat Alley

I'm back! This time with my second instalment to my Guide to Grub Guardian series. In this episode, we're going to be taking a look at Firecat Alley.

Once again, I will be using my epic fire pet throughout this series unless I decide to go to a life for the much later levels.

The main strategy here, like most, was focused around the epic fire pet and the star tower. Then I just bought some ice towers to let the fire really take effect. Finally, I just added a couple fire towers at the start to make them burn the second they leave the gate. Although not all necessary, this worked well.

Hope this helped and I'll see you all next time.

Oh yes, May Flower Sale...now that is worthwhile!

For any avid gardener, this is the sale for you!

Firstly, if you haven't tried them already, now is the time to invest in your EMPs. The Evil Magma Pea is easily the best choice of any seed.  See my free gardening book (link on the right) to see why!  Once you have one, keep your eye out for a 'Double Gardening Rewards' event to double your investment.

If you want to 'turbo level', grab a Key Limes.  You only need one or two to start as they multiply like crazy.  Great experience and fast growth cycles.

Then there is the solid Couch Potatoes.  My favourite when it comes to Mega Snacks and Treasure Cards, helping to level up your pet quickly and making you good money.  They are also great to watch, sitting there in front of the TV.

Even the Sword Fern can be fun, often dropping a Housing Item at Elder.

Remember, when you get into Gardening, don't forget to understand what things your plants Like and Dislike.  Grab a Tropical Garden Gnome for good measure.  Many plants like him and the more Likes you have, the faster your plants will grow.  Stay away from the Stinkweed.  If the name doesn't turn you off, the slow growth cycle of your plants should...

If you like stacking your garden to maximise your returns, it is hard to go past Moolinda's pack.  It just makes gardening so very easy.  Don't forget, you can also get this pack over at Grub Guardian if you are good enough!

Finally, if you plant for decorative effect, you can even pick up a planter in the current sale!

The Merle and the team have done another great job and selected an excellent range of specials.  Why not check them all out and see what is right for you?

Like I said - if you like Gardening, this is the perfect sale!

(BTW - If you are low on Crowns, one EMP and one Key Lime would be my suggestion)

See you 'round the Spiral!

Guide to Grub Guardian Ep. 1 Unicorn Way

Since the last time I tried to do a Grub Guardian guide didn't work too well, I will be starting the new one from the very start.

Now obviously, this video will not be lengthy in anyway whatsoever.. but here it is anyway (we have to start somewhere!).

Hope you enjoyed it! :)

A new episode of the Grub Guardian guide will be out shortly however, so don't worry.

Anyway, I'll see you all next time!

Marvelous Mounts - Alphyn

This is a mount I got a while back and I love it! The Alphyn is one of my favorite mounts for myth wizards because it is simply perfect in the way it looks and acts.

This beast is very swift and majestic in everything it does from running you places to pushing your cape to the side of its tail.

But remember, even though its amazing it does enjoy time to lie down every once in a while so make sure it has time or it'll turn against you!

I'm off to ride my Alphyn far into the spiral! Farewell!

A Fun Way to Pass the Time UPDATED!

An updated version of my previous 'A Fun Way to Pass the Time' guide!

As going to the Commons to look for people to help can sometimes prove to be time consuming and challenging, KI decided to help us out and implement the 'Join a Team' Kiosk.

Pictured left, the 'Join a Team' Kiosk is basically a way to join anyone throughout the spiral that are using the 'Team Up' function. Please note that the dungeons shown are ONLY people using Team Up, if they are not, it will not show up here. This means if you're attempting to join a dungeon such as Tartarus, it would almost always be more effective to actually GO to Aquila to find a team, as many don't use Team Up for such dungeons.

You can also use the different tabs to cycle through the worlds of the spiral to make it easier to find specific dungeons.

So next time your finding yourself with nothing to do in the spiral, why not give it a go?

See you next time!

Made it to Elder! Just in time!

Finally my Couch Potatoes went Elder so I was able to harvest them.

After harvesting the first one, let's just say I was very happy.

After receiving 2 seeds from each harvest, I went to fully finish off my garden.

I now have every plot filled. :)

In addition to finally having a fully stacked garden of 28 Couch Potatoes, I also just over 2 pages left over!

This means that I can create a stacked garden on another one of my wizards! The more mega snacks the better!

Thanks for reading and good luck with you're gardening! I also will be doing a Hatch-A-Thon one day where I will have my wizards, each equipped with a nice pet, and will give away 6 hatches!

Watch out for more updates and posts in the future!

A Fun Way to Pass the Time!

Ever tired of questing, farming or Pvping? Well, I have a solution for you :)

First step, is heading over to the Commons. Then, just ask if anyone needs any help!

After doing so, you can wait around or change realms and repeat, until you find someone who needs a helping hand. Once found, feel free to add them and get them to go to wherever they need help. Port to them and find out what it is.

If it's a normal street fight, feel free to finish quickly unless they say otherwise. However if it's a boss fight, try and do more things like buffing them or debuffing the enemy. My reasoning for this is that street fights are repetitive, whereas bosses can be much more challenging.

That's all from me, thanks for reading and have a great day!

Your Own Style!

There are many elements to Wizard101. One of these numerous elements is actually fashion! While you'll see most 'cool' wizards walking around in their Warlord Robes & Elegant Hats/Footwear, there is much more to style then meets the eye (also, I have nothing against these pieces of armour, I just think they're overused).

When picking your attire, a good place to start looking is at Eloise Merryweather. She has quite a few styles of clothing which are cheap and paintable, make sure you look through the types of clothing and find one that YOU like. There's no point wearing something if you don't like it. Don't just go for stuff others like, go for things you like.

Also, feel free to go for a themed or even seasonal (e.g. Easter) look!
However, always remember to stitch your armour if you are planning on fighting with it!

For my new look, I decided to go for a themed one. Meet Blaze, the Travelling Minstrel!!

I chose a variety of different items for my set including the, Jester's Cap, Whimsical Coat, Jester's Slippers & the Misty Mountain Mandolin.

Thanks for Reading! I hope you enjoyed.
See you next time!

Broccoli is Good for You!

Ok everyone.

I'm not sure if KI meant for anyone to find out about this, but I found the best snack in the game that will help you're pet by an INCREDIBLE amount when trying to get certain talents.

So, feed your pet whatever you like until it has a small amount of experience left to level up. Once you've done that, you'll want to select a Broccoli snack, (any type will do) then feed.

For this particular pet, I was aiming to get Spell Proof so I told the pet to get Spell Proof and as a reward, you will get a Cubby Broccoli.

There's only one answer to something like that...

And there you have it! A simple, maybe not true, not 100% working way to get the talents you want!

I am considerably stoked with this pet and wish you all good luck on your pet training.

Thanks!

Intrigue, Realisation and a dash of Woo Hoo!

Top stories this week.....
  • What do you think is going on?
  • Craftable Tapestries
  • Double Gardening Rewards
So this week has a dash of intrigue, a touch of realisation and some good old "look at what I got"! Swordroll gives us the intrigue we all love from the blogs around the web. Well I love it it anyway - when little bits and pieces are taken from different sources over time and they are put together to form questions about the future. Our very own Blaze takes a look at the craftable tapestries and I included a couple of YouTube videos to point out the generousity of KI with the Double Gardening rewards.

Don't forget you can click on the paper to see the rest of the news being shared this week!

Hope you enjoy and we'll be back with another copy next week.

Loving the Gardening Assistance

One of the things I like about playing Wizard101 is the little things.  The minor mods, the tweaks, that all make our life in the Spiral just that little bit easier or more fun.

The newest mod that has caught my eye enough to post about is the change to the Gardening 'button' when you are at your house.

The way gardening used to work is that you go to your house, click on the Gardening button and switched into gardening mode.  You would then service your plants and tend to their needs.

Eventually, they would turn Elder and you can reap the maximum rewards.

This was always good and the way it worked in the Spiral.

...and every now and then, you would find that lone plant or experimental garden that you had simply forgotten all about!

Not any more!

Now, when you go Home and look at your Gardening button, it actually tells you something about your plants and the state of their health.

This little one lets you know there is work to be done.  Somewhere there is a plant that has needs or pests to be attended to.

This is the typical icon that you will see when you come Home as, if you are tending your garden on a regular basis, they will let you know that it is time to provide assistance.  Don't forget, the more you visit your Home, the more frequently you will need to tend to your plants.

This one, however, tells you that there is a plant somewhere that you might have forgotten!  There is a plant out there in desperate need of assistance, and will die a horrible death if you cannot get there in time.

However, it is worth realising that this icon won't be shown once your plant has died.  once that has happened, the only thing left to do is to Revive it (if it is worth the effort) or simply dig it back into the ground.

Still, for me, this has already been very helpful.  I hadn't been to one of my gardens in a while and I thought I had handled all the current needs.  Then I had a plant that was wilting!  Aha, a quick circle of the garden made me realise it was my "Pixie Plant", the Fiery Boom Shroom I keep alive to ensure the garden is always well services for Pixie's.

A quick spell later and all was right again.

Great idea KI.  These are the things we appreciate!

See you 'round the Spiral.

Craftable Tapestries?

I had heard about the addition of the Craftable Tapestries to the game and was wondering which ones were available and where I could find them, here are the tapestries from Wizard City.

So, Eudora Tangletree is selling the recipe's for Tapestries to each of Ravenwood's Schools, one to Nightside and some other special ones, including my personal favourite, the Bazaar.

Eudora Tangletree, as most of you would know, can be located in section showed on the right, of Olde Town.

Once here, the recipes cost 5000 gold each (very cheap if you ask me) and all require 19 TC's, 5 Fish and a varying mix of other items and reagents.

Remember, no two recipes are the same so never buy ingredients without checking the individual recipes. There is however, the Dagger of Absolution that is used in a number of recipes.

On the left hand side, you'll see all the Tapestries Eudora has for sale.

Remember, the reagents can be (depending on the specific reagent) very easy to pick up at the Bazaar so always check there if you're in need of anything.

Well, hopefully you've learned something new and make sure to pick up any recipe's you like the look of next time you pass by.

Good Luck Crafting!
