Loving the Gardening Assistance

One of the things I like about playing Wizard101 is the little things.  The minor mods, the tweaks, that all make our life in the Spiral just that little bit easier or more fun.

The newest mod that has caught my eye enough to post about is the change to the Gardening 'button' when you are at your house.

The way gardening used to work is that you go to your house, click on the Gardening button and switched into gardening mode.  You would then service your plants and tend to their needs.

Eventually, they would turn Elder and you can reap the maximum rewards.

This was always good and the way it worked in the Spiral.

...and every now and then, you would find that lone plant or experimental garden that you had simply forgotten all about!

Not any more!

Now, when you go Home and look at your Gardening button, it actually tells you something about your plants and the state of their health.

This little one lets you know there is work to be done.  Somewhere there is a plant that has needs or pests to be attended to.

This is the typical icon that you will see when you come Home as, if you are tending your garden on a regular basis, they will let you know that it is time to provide assistance.  Don't forget, the more you visit your Home, the more frequently you will need to tend to your plants.

This one, however, tells you that there is a plant somewhere that you might have forgotten!  There is a plant out there in desperate need of assistance, and will die a horrible death if you cannot get there in time.

However, it is worth realising that this icon won't be shown once your plant has died.  once that has happened, the only thing left to do is to Revive it (if it is worth the effort) or simply dig it back into the ground.

Still, for me, this has already been very helpful.  I hadn't been to one of my gardens in a while and I thought I had handled all the current needs.  Then I had a plant that was wilting!  Aha, a quick circle of the garden made me realise it was my "Pixie Plant", the Fiery Boom Shroom I keep alive to ensure the garden is always well services for Pixie's.

A quick spell later and all was right again.

Great idea KI.  These are the things we appreciate!

See you 'round the Spiral.

Craftable Tapestries?

I had heard about the addition of the Craftable Tapestries to the game and was wondering which ones were available and where I could find them, here are the tapestries from Wizard City.

So, Eudora Tangletree is selling the recipe's for Tapestries to each of Ravenwood's Schools, one to Nightside and some other special ones, including my personal favourite, the Bazaar.

Eudora Tangletree, as most of you would know, can be located in section showed on the right, of Olde Town.

Once here, the recipes cost 5000 gold each (very cheap if you ask me) and all require 19 TC's, 5 Fish and a varying mix of other items and reagents.

Remember, no two recipes are the same so never buy ingredients without checking the individual recipes. There is however, the Dagger of Absolution that is used in a number of recipes.

On the left hand side, you'll see all the Tapestries Eudora has for sale.

Remember, the reagents can be (depending on the specific reagent) very easy to pick up at the Bazaar so always check there if you're in need of anything.

Well, hopefully you've learned something new and make sure to pick up any recipe's you like the look of next time you pass by.

Good Luck Crafting!

Member Benefits and Official Blogs

Top stories this week.....
  • Member Benefits Begin
  • Official Status
Running slightly late due to a public holiday for Australia over here at the Keep. We missed a big ticket news item last week, so I am officially reporting news that is slightly older than normal - but it is definitely worth a mention. There were three more awesome blogs given official status, I just want to say a huge congratulations to all three of them - keep up the great work you do guys!

The other big story for the week was the first member benefits - and they came in mine and Morgrim's favourite past-time - Gardening. I hope that many of you were able to make use of these benefits by getting your plants to Elder and doubling up on those Crowns Seeds!!

Don't forget you can click on the paper to see the rest of the news being shared this week!

Hope you enjoy and we'll be back with another copy next week.

Double Gardening Rewards?

When logging into the spiral today, I noticed something a bit different.

What?? I logged on immediately to check my garden!

Sadly, My DHE's (Deadly Helephant Ears) weren't ready for harvest.

But my Couch Potatoes were! :)

Interested in how this, Double Reward deal would work, I harvested...

It turns out that they actually were talking about DOUBLE rewards! As shown below, I got the reward I would normally receive (gold, tc and snack) but then I got it again!

The only thing I'm interested in knowing is.. What about at Elder? Things Like CP's DHE's and EMP's are good to farm, not only for their rewards, but also for the fact that they replenish themselves at elder.

Will 2 CP seeds drop at Elder? Will KingsIsle do more of these double rewards events?

I'm not sure, but you should definitely get gardening!!

Good Luck Gardening!

What do Finding Nemo and Wizard101 have in common?

Top stories this week.....
  • 8 Things - do you know them?
  • Blaze's Pet Training
  • Craftable Music Boxes
When you're playing the game do you ever wonder where the stories come from? Well the folks over at KI have a new blog post giving us all 8 facts that "might surprise us".  You'll find out some pretty cool stuff over in that blog post. Things like:
  • Why the game was created
  • What it has to do Finding Nemo or ToyStory
  • The game is suitable for older style technology
  • The initial launch had four adventure zones - read the article to find out what they were!
Back at the Keep, Blaze has been busy discovering that Pet stats aren't everything.... sometimes it's all in the look! So he has been busy training a new pet - the Tempest. Being a Death Wizard I have to disagree with him about this being the perfect 'looking' pet as I have real issues with floating pets lol!! I do wish him the best of luck hatching and training this pet though, and look forward to updates on those stats.

Lastly, Stars of the Spiral share with us the recipes for crafting all the music boxes in the Spiral.

I Love the Look of that Pet!

After achieving what was considered by me to be the perfect pet on most occasions, I hadn't done much pet training up until now.

I didn't think there was much reason to train and use energy when I have the pet I want but I soon came to realise.. I didn't! And this is even excluding the new talents that KI keep releasing!

What my pet lacked and could never achieve was...

The Look!

I never realised until I saw it, but my favourite looking pet is the Tempest!!

Now let's be serious. What Death Wizard would NOT want this pet? It's basically a death seraph and there is even a spell on this pet!

After a generous hatch from a friend, I had obtained my own and have been hatching vigorously with myself to get the same talents onto it. Wish me luck! :)

Thanks for Reading!

It's all in the name.....

Top stories this week.....
  • Time for a Smile?
  • Blaze's Tips
  • Krokotopian Secrets
Running slightly late with the Weekly this week, sometimes real life just seems to take over!

Let's get into it! KI have published a great article on their blog about the 'punny' names that are often used in Wizard101. I'm sure you've all seen one or two of them around, and maybe you have one of your own wizards with a creative pun used for the name. I was amazed to find that there are almost 2 million name combinations available. Oh and you really must spend some time reading the comments too. Being a Dr Who fan I just want to say thanks to lewski for pointing out that Amy Pond and Tyler Rose are both available - while not puns the fan names can be just as much fun!
In other news, Blaze is back with more tips. This time he has a neat tip of playing the Cannon Game  for Pet Training more efficiently. We all know that when it comes to Pet Training, fast is generally the want - so this is a helpful tip!
Lastly, Swordroll shares with us his experiences in the secret room in Krokotopia. I love the stories and rumours that surround Wiz101, so it's great to see that Swordroll and Elijah had success and 'found' the room. Although it was somewhat sad to keep reading and find that said room or glitch has now been removed. I hope the rest of the community continues to point out these cool glitches when they find them. They really are a heap of fun!

Blaze's Tips & Tricks No. 8 An efficient Guide to the Cannon Game!

After doing a lot of pet training lately, I've been trying all the games out again.

I have a tip that I believe will come in very handy to those wishing to do the cannon game well, and quickly.

What you need to do, is put the power meter up to full and aim really low. This means that you don't have to worry too much about how the wind is going to affect your shot.

Use the practise shot to your advantage to judge the height of the cannon and with a little bit of practise you'll get much better.

This is how a typical shot of mine would look, max power, low aim and then worrying about the wind with the direction of cannon.

And again...

Until you've finished the round. If you do well, then you should average 3 - 4 points a round.

Hopefully this tip has helped you and good luck on your future pet training endeavours.

Thanks for reading!

Happy New Year from all of us at the Keep. We hope your Christmas was fantastic and wish each and every one of you a fabulous 2015 filled with fun and smiles! While we have been off on our holidays, the Spiral has kept itself busy. I haven't had time to catch up on all the news from fellow bloggers, but that is why I find the weekly so useful. There are a couple of copies for me to catch up on, you can use the Archive link at the top of the Weekly Page to view the older issues if you have been away and missed some!

This week is very much a time of reflection, but Swordroll shares the announcement of the Fansite Festival - this looks great and I will be checking this out in more detail this week.
